All Rise: the feel-good legal drama about more than the courtroom
Newly appointed Judge Lola Carmichael is ready to shake up LA’s justice system – and it’s personal!

Simone Missick played NYPD Detective Misty Knight in the Marvel Universe shows Luke Cage and Iron Fist – so she’s used to fighting for justice.
Now she’s playing another kick-ass woman with a mission in All Rise - the newly appointed judge Lola Carmichael.
Lola is an impressive and intelligent former deputy district attorney whose legal savvy is equal to her humanity - and now she’s sitting at the judges’ bench she is determined to make a difference.
Known as the ‘Lolacoaster’ among the judicial assistants, Lola can be impulsive and push boundaries, but all in the pursuit of justice.
“Lola is the kind of person I aspire to be,” Missick says. “She’s someone who looks at the justice system and asks how she can change it and how she can make it better. She’s a very smart capable woman who is also flawed.”

“Lola sees the person first, not the crime,” creator Greg Spottiswood told TV Insider.
But being serious about preventing corruption means idealistic Lola could make a few powerful enemies along the way.
Trying to rein in Lola’s more impulsive moments is supervisory judge Lisa Benner, an influential and powerful figure in LA’s justice system, played by CSI favourite Marg Helgenberger.
It’s described as an ensemble drama by Spottiswood, so there are plenty of lovable and complicated characters in Lola’s courtroom.

They include her roguish best friend and deputy district attorney Mark Callan (Hart of Dixie’s Wilson Bethel), her efficient judicial assistant Sherri Kansky (The Americans’ Ruthie Ann Miles) and empathetic public defender Emily Lopez (The Flash’s Jessica Camacho).
Following the professional and the personal lives of the chaotic, hopeful and sometimes absurd people around Lola, All Rise is the more than just a courtroom drama.
It’s not just business for these passionate legal staffers, it’s personal – and it’s the relationships, romances and rivalries in this feel-good series that will keep you coming back for more!
All Rise premieres Tuesday 24 September at 7pm. Same day as the U.S.
