The Twilight Zone: Everything you need to know
Prepare for chilling stories and shocking twists - Jordan Peele’s reboot of the sci-fi anthology series is almost here!

The history
Originally created by Rod Serling, The Twilight Zone has now become synonymous with mind-bending stories, twist endings, and terrifyingly relevant morals.
The original series ran between 1959 and 1964, was filmed entirely in black and white, and has one of the most iconic theme songs in TV history.
Since the original, the series has been rebooted twice – in the mid-1980s and the early-2000s – and was made into a movie produced by Steven Spielberg in 1983.
The host
Taking the reins this time is Oscar-winning writer and director Jordan Peele.
Originally from the world of comedy (Key and Peele), he has since written and directed the horror films Us and Get Out, for which he won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
Peele serves as showrunner, writer and host on The Twilight Zone, a role originally filled by Serling - and don’t worry, he is very aware of the big shoes he is trying to fill.

After initially turning down the chance to remake it because he was “terrified”, Peele told Variety he realised it “was an opportunity to attempt to continue with Serling’s mission”.
“If we approach it without ego and sort of bow to Serling, that will hopefully suffice for our fellow Twilight Zone fans but also bring back a show that I think is needed right now. Because it’s a show that has always helped us look at ourselves, hold a mirror up to society.”
The stories
While producers have promised there will be no complete remakes of episodes, there are some references to classic stories and ideas from the past.
One of the first three episodes is titled Nightmare at 30,000 Feet and is a reference to a classic 1963 episode called Nightmare at 20,000 Feet. But, apart from the name and the plane setting, the two stories apparently have very little in common.

The other two episodes to be released first are called The Comedian, about a stand-up comic who wants to be famous and Replay, a story about a camcorder that can rewind time.
As an anthology series, each episode is its own self-contained story and can be watched in any order.
The cast
A new story each week also means a new cast – and what better way to pack it full of big stars!
So far the list includes Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation), Greg Kinnear (House of Cards), Allison Tolman (Fargo), Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick), Ginnifer Goodwin (Once Upon a Time), Steven Yuen (The Walking Dead), Ike Barinholtz (The Mindy Project), John Cho (Star Trek), Tracy Morgan (30 Rock), Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids), Seth Rogan (Knocked Up) and Zazie Beets (Atlanta).
Peele is the only actor to appear in all episodes as the narrator, introducing each story to the viewer.
The first 3 episodes of The Twilight Zone will be available Monday 15 April at midday, with new episodes Thursdays. Same day as the U.S.
