A video documenting a mass dolphin beaching in Brazil has become an internet hit.

The 30-strong pod appears suddenly in the shallow waters before becoming stranded on the picturesque beach.

The mammals are then assisted by fast-thinking beachgoers who wade into the surf and drag the dolphins by their tails into deeper water.

The successful rescue is met by applause from the crowd that have gathered to watch the natural phenomena.
