US mountain biker's bike stolen

Mike Hendershot is a worldclass mountain biker from America, but his custom made Santa Cruz bike was pinched while he was touring around the South Island and now he has only got four days to get it back.

The 42-year-old is ranked fourth in the world for ultra-distance racing, where he races for up to 24 hours.

Hendershot leaves New Zealand this week and is desperate to get his bike back.  There are only 10 of the $10,000 bikes in the world.

The pro rider is offering a reward on Trade Me, and a signed team jersey for its safe return.
