Mercy Mission
It's been 7 months since New Zealand businessman Bruce
Robinson saw any family or any friends. He's the Kiwi locked up in
a Polish jail awaiting trial for a building collapse in the city of
Katowice. Sixty five pigeon enthusiasts were killed, and Bruce
Robinson is one of the men being blamed for it. A couple of weeks
ago Bruce's parents spoke to Close Up. Dave and Carol Robinson say
the Polish legal system is archaic and goes against the human
rights of their son. The Robinsons also believe our Government
isn't doing enough to help their son get bail, or better prison
conditions. Now they've travelled to Poland to see if there's
anything they can do to get their son out of jail. An exclusive
report from Europe Correspondent Melissa Stokes, in Poland with
Carol and Dave Robinson.
Fly Fishing
This weekend thousands of outdoor angling types will be
rummaging through the garage in search of their tackle boxes -
dusting off their royal wulffs, black gnats and stimulator in
preparation for the start of the trout fishing season. For the keen
angler, the anticipation this time of year is almost unbearable.
For five months they've waited while the fish grow fat and lazy.
But on October 1st, the waders go on and the gloves come off. John
Sellwood is live from Hammill's Hunting and Fishing in
Christchurch.
Duet or Die
It's our own Lucy Lawless whose head has been on the
chopping block over the last few weeks. She's been singing with the
greats, like Smokey Robinson and Dione Warwick, as part of the hit
American show, Celebrity Duets. Lucy is now down to the final
three. Today, she sang for her life, and the chance to donate a
$100,000 to the charity of her choice. America is now voting for
their favourite celebrity singer, and tomorrow, the winner will be
announced. Tim Wilson caught up with Lucy Lawless in Los Angeles to
see what she thinks of it all.
