It's shaping up to be the hottest topic for the looming election... Are New Zealander's paying too much tax?
According to recent polls, Michael Cullen's budget was a disappointment to many workers, and hot on the heels of that National released its tax policy saying it will cut taxes across the board by next April.
This One News Insight will investigate the tax issue with politicians, experts and ordinary workers in this one hour debate hosted by Simon Dallow.
It will be the first opportunity that politicians have had to thrash out the issue in public, although Executive Producer Richard Harman says the debate will not serve as a party political broadcast.
"The debate will give the politicians a limited platform to talk policy, but they will not be taking over the programme with their views,' he says emphatically.
"It's clear that tax is going to be top of the list for many voters in the coming election and so it is timely that we have a debate on the subject to inform New Zealander's on this important issue."
As well as hearing from all the main players, the debate will offer some expert opinions from both at home and overseas. The programme will also give comparisons of local and international tax rates.
If New Zealanders are concerned about taxation then they need to watch this One News Insight.
