A Family Appeals

It is a parent's worst nightmare. Sam Badawi is only 17, he is on the run from the police and his mum is scared the police will shoot to kill. He escaped from Waikeria Prison with another inmate, who has since been arrested, but several days later Badawi is still on the run and his mum Wendy wants him to give himself up. Before the escape his convictions related mostly to cars and burglary but now police suspect he is armed and dangerous. His parents join us live in the studio.

If you have information about Sam Badawi's whereabouts call Te Awamutu Police Station: 07- 872 0100 or email closeup@tvnz.co.nz

To Streak or Not?

We lost the rights to co-host the last rugby World Cup because we could not guarantee clean stadiums, could not promise the big corporate sponsors that they would have it all to themselves. So with the World Cup 2011 in sight the government is moving now to ensure it does not happen again. The major Events Management Bill is winding it's way through the parliamentary process. But it does more than just protect sponsors. As Jendy Harper reveals it also includes harsh penalties for pitch invaders clothed or unclothed.

Baby's Name 4Real

Every year the list comes out with the most popular baby names for boys and girls. Names like Jake and Emma, Ryan and Madison are often on the list. Then there are the more unusual ones like Rocco, Apple, Stiggy or even Loveofgod. But Pat Wheaton and wife Sheena went where noone has gone before when their son was born three weeks ago by calling him 4Real. It's not just the boy's name that's different, it's the spelling of it. And that's why the Wheatons are battling the Births, Deaths and Marriages office where names have to be officially registered. Laurna White finds out what's in a name.
