WORLD PREMIERE OF SPACE RACERS BLASTS OFF ON TVNZ KIDZONE 24
15 February 2014
It's a bird! It's a plane! No -it's Space Racers, a brand new children's series that premieres for the first time anywhere in the world - on TVNZ Kidzone24 on 15 February at 5.30pm.
This unique and beautifully animated programme has NASA on board as technical consultants, evaluating all scripts and aspects of science and space technology within the series.
TVNZ Pay Channels General Manager, Juliet Peterson says, "We are very excited to have the world premiere of Space Racers on Kidzone24. It's the centre piece of our Wheels & Wings-themed programming this February on the channel, and I'm sure it will quickly become a must-watch for our audience."
The team behind Space Racers includes creator and executive producer Richard Schweiger, director Mark Risley (Rugrats, The Wild Thornberrys) and head writer Allan Neuwirth (The Octonauts). The series will premiere in the US in May 2014.
"Five years ago at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC, the concept of Space Racers came to light," says Richard Schweiger, "today we are proud to work with the amazing team at TVNZ Kidzone24, and so fortunate to have NASA assisting us in various areas of the project. We are thrilled that our friends in New Zealand will be the first in the world to get to know Eagle and the rest of the Space Racers team."
Eagle, Hawk, Robyn, Starling and Raven are five spaceships who attend the Stardust Space Academy. As the ships travel throughout the solar system, they teach children about exploration, investigation, observation, how to work together as a team - and have a lot of fun along the way!
