The Carrie Diaries sees Carrie with a whole new (old) set of friends and potential love interests. We meet the gang and find out where we've seen them before.
Carrie Bradshaw (AnnaSophia Robb)
Before sex and before she hit the city, Carrie Bradshaw was a a wide-eyed 16-year-old living in suburban Conneticut and coping with the death of her mother.
She finds herself navigating through the ups and downs of high school life with a close-knit group of friends in suburban Connecticut, as well as her new glamorous life as a summer intern in Manhattan.
Colarado native Anna Sophia Robb has been revered for her stand-out performances in several films. For her role in Bridge to Terabithia, she won Best Leading Actress in a Feature Film at the 2008 Young Artist Awards, as well as a CAMIE Award. She also received a Critics Choice nomination for Best Young Actress in a Feature Film. Robb has appeared in numerous films including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,
Soul Surfer and
Race to Witch Mountain.
Sebastian Kydd (Austin Butler)
Sebastian Kydd is the handsome new rich kid at high school with an a secret past who catches the eye of Carrie Bradshaw.
Austin Butler boasts a long list of television credits which include recurring roles on Switched at Birth, Life Unexpected, Bling Ring, Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure, Ruby and the Rockits, Zoey 101, Ned’s Declassified School and Survival Guide. He was also in the feature film Aliens in the Attic.
Butler currently resides in New York City. In his spare time, he plays the guitar and piano, and enjoys creating and recording music.
Jill "The Mouse" Chen (Ellen Wong)
Extremely bright and loyal Jill “The Mouse” Chen is one of Carrie’s best friends.
Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Ellen Wong knew that she wanted to be an actress after seeing Kate Winslet’s performance in Titanic. Eager to be a part of film and TV, she took jobs working behind the scenes on local film and television productions, reading scripts and watching auditions at the local television network she worked at until she felt ready to make her move in front of the camera.
Her first role was on the award-winning television series This Is Wonderland, followed by an appearance on The CW’s Runaway. She went on to steal scenes as Knives Chau opposite Michael Cera in the 2010 feature film, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.
Maggie Landers (Katie Findlay)
Maggie Landers is also one of Carrie’s best friends and a loyal confidant. Fiesty and bossy, she's used to getting what she wants.
Katie Findlay, a native of Canada, grew up in both Edmonton and Vancouver, and has been studying acting her whole life. She has had guest starring roles on hit television series Psych, Fringe and SGU Stargate Universe. In 2011, Findlay was cast in the pivotal role of Rosie Larsen in the acclaimed series The Killing, and subsequently became the face of a very successful marketing campaign.
Walt Reynolds (Brendan Dooling)
Stylish and preppy Walt Reynolds is a close friend of Carrie’s and the longtime boyfriend of Maggie. He's so close to Maggie and the gang that he's considered "one of the girls."
Brendan Dooling can next be seen on the big screen in the upcoming feature Breathe In from writer/director Drake Doremus, starring Guy Pearce, Felicity Jones and Kyle MacLachlan. Dooling has previously appeared in the short film Somewhere and his television credits include roles in Unforgettable, As the World Turns and the telefilm An Elf’s Story: The Elf on the Shelf.
Dooling, who currently resides in New York City, has also appeared on stage in theatrical productions of The Full Monty, Holiday Spectacular, The King and I and Jesus Christ Superstar.
Larissa Loughton (Freema Agyeman)
Larissa Loughton is the style editor at Interview magazine. She also becomes Carrie’s (AnnaSophia Robb) new cool, older friend who introduces her to the fabulous world of fashion and, most importantly, New York City.
Born in London, Freema Agyeman is best known in the UK for playing Martha Jones in the BBC’s award-winning series Dr. Who, opposite David Tennant. She was nominated for a National Television Award for Dr. Who and named Best Newcomer at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards. Agyeman also starred in the spinoff Torchwood and the series Law & Order: UK.
