Shirley Manson stars as Catherine Weaver in the drama Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which picks up where Terminator 2: Judgment Day left off.

Manson was born in Edinburgh, Scotland.

She started piano lessons at age 7 and continued in her pursuit of music at the City of Edinburgh Music School where she joined her high school drama group and performed in plays such as American Dream and The Wizard of Oz.

Manson started her music career performing backup vocals and keyboards for a local band, Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie. In 1993, she signed with MCA Records to record her side project Angelfish and received notoriety for her single "Suffocate Me." In 1994, she began vocal work with Butch Vig, Duke Erikson and Steve Marker, the original members of Garbage.

Soon after, Garbage invited Manson to become a full-time member of the band and complete their self-titled debut album. In 1995, Garbage was released to critical acclaim and immediate commercial success and the band went on to release their next album, Version 2.0, in May 1998.

During their two-year tour promoting Version 2.0, Garbage recorded the theme song to the James Bond movie The World Is Not Enough, and Manson focused on improving her guitar skills for their third album.

After Version 2.0, Garbage alternated between touring and recording. They released two more albums, beautifulgarbage in 2001 and Bleed Like Me in 2005. Garbage has sold over 10 million albums worldwide.

Manson has also appeared in print campaigns for both Calvin Klein and MoAoC as a spokesperson for their Viva Glam campaign which supports AIDS research. She currently lives in Los Angeles.
