Tirikatene blames Govt’s ‘regional neglect’ for Sealord job losses
Labour's Te Tai Tonga MP Rino Tirikatene is blaming the National Government for the loss of 60 hoki processing jobs at Sealord in Nelson. Sealord informed staff yesterday that its Kirimi line, that produces crumbed fish bites, was no longer commercially viable due to offshore competition.

Alternative NZ flag to fly over 250 sites around the country
The proposed alternative silver fern flag will be flying from the Auckland Harbour Bridge soon - except for Waitangi Day. The announcement was made by Ministers Bill English and Simon Bridges who said the flag will start flying alongside the current one from Friday, January 22. Mr English says it will be flown until the end of the referendum period on March 24, except for Waitangi Day when the current flag will be flown alongside the Tino Rangatiratanga flag.
