The Wedding of the Year
Ladies and gentlemen, you are officially invited to The Wedding of the Year on Shortland Street , when teen beauty Sophie McKay (Kimberley Crossman) prepares to tie the knot with Kieran Mitchell (Adam Rickitt).
Sophie and Kieran's relationship has experienced its ups and downs, enduring widespread disapproval from many people in Ferndale, due mainly to the age gap and Kieran's dodgy reputation.
As the wedding quickly approaches, it appears that some people still hold the same view.
"Sophie's brother Hunter (Lee Donoghue) is extremely vocal in his distaste for Kieran," says Rickitt. "Family means a lot to Sophie, so Hunter's lack of support is really upsetting for her and seeing his great love in pain cuts Kieran very deeply."
But despite the hard times they've had, Sophie and Kieran feel certain they are truly meant for one another.
"They know that their strong love is the only thing that matters," says Rickitt. "So even though they've encountered hurdles, they both know that it's well and truly worth it."
Filmed in a beautiful church in Titirangi, West Auckland, the cast and crew of Shortland Street had a lot of fun filming the exciting scenes.
"It was a really long day, but great fun doing scenes with all the cast," says Rickitt. "Put it this way, it wasn't enough to put me off the idea for good."
On the day of the wedding, things get off to a good start, but it's not long before the well-laid plans start going awry.
"Let's just say that an outside influence shakes things up, much
to Kieran and Sophie's dismay," says Rickitt. "Neither of them is
prepared for what happens."
Will Sophie and Kieran's dream day turn into a nightmare? Make sure you tune in this week to find out.
