The teens of Shortland Street - Pt 1
There's been an influx of teenagers to Shortland Street
in 2010 and they are ready to take on the world!
As viewers prepare to see what is in store for the latest
crop of young adults, we thought we would take a little trip down
memory lane.
Refresh your memory with some of the other teenagers who have
graced the show with their presence over the last 18
years.
Nick Harrison and Stewart Neilson
Right back at the beginning there were teenagers Nick
Harrison and Stuart Neilson, played by Karl Burnett and Martin
Henderson respectively.
They were an unlikely duo, brought together because their parents
worked at
Shortland Street, but they got on
relatively well regardless.
Nick was classified as the slightly 'geeky' teen whilst Stuart was
seen as broody and a bit of a thinker.
Rachel and Jonathan McKenna
It's hard to believe that she hasn't always been the
bolshy business woman she is today, but when she first arrived on
the show back in 1993, young Rachel McKenna was still a
teenager.
Still bolshy perhaps, but she definitely didn't have quite the
business head that has her running the clinic in 2010.
Brother and sister Jonathan (Kieran Hutchinson)and Rachel McKenna
(Angela Bloomfield) were the precocious offspring of CEO Michael
McKenna and his wife Alex.
They were good looking, very smart and extremely competitive -
with each other and with the rest of the world.
Luke Skeggins
Young Luke Skeggins (Greg Freeman) was the son of Lionel. He came
to stay with his dad for a while and got his young girlfriend,
Josie Bergman pregnant.
Despite his young age, Luke wanted to do the right thing by Josie
.
They eventually gained the support of their parents and were
married before moving back to Bulls with Luke's mother to finish
school and wait for the arrival of their baby.
Lulu Chatfield
Lulu (Meighan Desmond) was a teen runaway who turned up in Ferndale
and was eventually fostered by Marj and her second husband, Laurie
Brasch.
She became good friends with Minnie and they got into lots of
trouble together.
Minnie Crozier
Daughter of Ellen Crozier (Robyn Malcolm) , Minnie
(Katrina Devine) started on
Shortland Street as a
gawky teenager with a solo mum.
Minnie stayed on the show for several years and went through a
variety of teen related issues during the time.
James Thornton
James Thornton (Chris Dykzeul) was the spoiled only child of
Shortland Street clinic's manager, Julia
Thornton.
Having lead a privileged life with his doctor parents, James
expected money to grow on trees and reacted badly when he didn't
get what he wanted.
Both Minnie and Lulu had crushes on him at various stages.
Fergus Kearney
Fergus (Paul Ellis) was the wayward son of hospital CEO David
Kearney, whom he constantly fought with.
Fergus was good friends with Minnie but was notorious for running
away from home when things didn't go his way.
