Look out for Cameron on your screens…
Name three similarities between you and your onscreen character.
We love being outdoors, we let people know where they stand and tend to voice our opinions and we both seem to suffer from broken hearts!
What do you do in your down time during the day when you’re not shooting?
These days I don’t have much down time but if I do I go surfing, watch a lot of docos or read.
Where were you born and where did you grow up?
I was born in Auckland, but grew up in sunny Hawkes Bay in Hastings.
How long have you been acting and how did you get your first big break?
I feel a bit like I’ve been acting my whole life. As a kid you kind of dream up imaginary worlds, and now that’s my career. But I think I started taking it seriously when I started landing more major roles and getting drama awards in high school. It seemed to just come naturally, so I decided that I’d stick with it for as long as I could
What has been your best experience/scene on the show to date?
The scenes with Vinnie, Zlata and Bella – I can’t say too much but a ‘comedy of errors’ goes on and it was a lot of fun to act.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of SS?
Music and playing in a band; surfing; I’m involved with an environmental group ‘Generation Zero’; I like to write; watch documentaries; go to the gym and be outdoors; and I love NFL.
What is your favourite destination in NZ and overseas?
The Bay of Islands – it really is paradise up there! Overseas, probably Santa Monica.
What is your date of birth and what star sign are you?
7th of August - Leo
Do you watch Shortland Street at home? It strange seeing yourself on television or are you used to it?
I don’t now as it is confusing to watch scenes I’ve shot a few weeks ago and then go to work and work on scenes for future episodes!
What is your favourite food?
Italian – and I love peanut butter!
What is your favourite television programme and/or film of all time?
The film Raging Bull
Have you made any good friends amongst the cast and crew?
I feel very welcomed by both the cast and crew. It’s been amazing. I share a dressing room with Toby Leach (Seth) and he’s so funny and one of the most honest people I’ve ever met. He’s great!
Can you remember your first day on Shortland Street – what was it like?
Yes – we were filming for winter but it was like 27 degrees and I was wearing my ambulance jacket. The poor wardrobe girls – I drenched my costume! And crew had to fan me – I felt so bad!!
What is the thing you enjoy most about going to work everyday?
That I get to do the thing I love the most everyday!
Shortland Street, weeknights 7pm
