Ido is back - and so is Daniel
Shortland Street heart-throb Ido Drent (Daniel
Potts) returns to our screens this week, after taking a ten week
While Daniel headed to Indonesia to pursue work, Drent spent his time in the United States of America.
Whilst in the States, Drent followed in the footsteps of many acting greats, such as Diane Keaton, James Caan, and our very own Martin Henderson, studying at the Neighbourhood Playhouse School of Theatre in New York.
"This was an amazing experience. The school was great and the people I worked with pushed me really hard," says Drent. "It was very cool to be doing this course in the middle of New York City too. New York's somewhere I'd always wanted to visit, so to spend two months there was a dream come true."
When asked what his favourite thing about the city was, Drent believes it's far too difficult to choose.
"There are so many cool little restaurants and cafes, you're just spoilt for choice," says Drent. "Central Park is amazing. They have these free shows and concerts, with thousands of people in attendance. In fact, while I was there I was lucky enough to see a Shakespeare in the Park with Al Pacino That was a real buzz."
Though Drent had a fantastic time exploring a new city, he was also pleased to arrive back in New Zealand.
"Being away from home made me realise what a wonderful community of friends I have in my life," says Drent. "I also missed New Zealand's brilliant coffee!"
So what can viewers expect from Daniel's return? Stay tuned and make sure you watch Weeknights at 7pm TV2.
