Arlo Gibson plays the handsome George Kirkwood, who made an impression Dayna. You might also recognnise him from his role on TV2's Step Dave, where he plays bar boy, Liam.
How did you get your role on Shortland Street?
I was put forward for the role by my agent – auditioned and here we are!
How long have you been acting and how did you get your first big break?
I've been acting from a young age – my first film role was in a contemporary dance film made by my mother – I was 7.
Name three similarities between you and your onscreen character.
- Both spontaneous
- We look similar?
- We both have our secrets
What has been your best experience/scene on the show to date?
I can't yet talk about that but it has something to do with the Christmas cliff-hanger.
Which other character would you like to be and why?
I would like to be Stevie, I would like to know what it would be like to be a child once more.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of SS?
Playing HALO, making theatre, reading and watching movies.
What do you do in your down time during the day when you're not shooting?
Recently I've been reading screen plays of my favorite films.
What is your favourite destination in NZ and overseas?
In New Zealand – I really like Bethell's Beach

How many brothers and sisters do you have, are they older or younger?
One older brother and one younger sister

Joaquin Phoenix or Philip Seymour Hoffman - RIP
What is the thing you enjoy most about going to work everyday?
Just the opportunity to be working every day! And be a practicing actor.
What has been your favorite scene to film in your time at Shortland Street?
My first day involved a scene in which someone fell off a ladder – I got to assist when the ambo workers showed up and pretend I knew what I was doing. That was fun.
What is your favourite food?
My flatmate Jordan's steak.
What is your favourite television programme and/or film of all time?
The Sopranos. And films, is a very difficult question but maybe The Master.
Are you from Auckland or did you move her to film Shortland Street? Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Leigh but I live in Auckland
Which other actors/actresses do you like working with the most and why?
Lucy who plays Dayna ss great, as well as Tane and Grace.
Have you made any good friends amongst the cast and crew?
Everyone's been so welcoming and lovely. I mostly hang with Lucy and Pua, we talk about video games.
What’s the best experience you've had with a fan/fans?
A guy in Christchurch told me he had seen me in Step Dave – but that’s the extent of it.
