Cinderella the Pantomine
Alison Quigan (Yvonne Jeffries) is taking on a different kind of
role this month, performing in Roger Hall's classic, Cinderella the
It's a pantomime filled with local humour, outrageous wigs, fantastic makeup and costumes.
Cinderella will tackle evil and try to keep order as she chases her love interest across the pantomime stage.
Quigan, who plays Fairy Godmother, is excited by the opportunity to be involved in this production, playing at the Civic Theatre.
"It's wonderful working so closely with the audience - especially the children. Some of the little girls dress up as Cinderella complete with tiaras and they do look lovely. And the Civic Theatre is spectacular. What a beautiful place to work," says Quigan. "Panto is fun theatre. It's rude and silly and outrageous but it is also hugely energetic with lots of dancing and singing and of course everyone wants to see Cinderella marry her Prince. "
This isn't the first time Quigan and Roger Hall have worked together either - Alison has directed and acted in over 15 of his plays at Centrepoint Theatre and Auckland Theatre Company.
"I remember saying to Roger one year, "You have saved this theatre 12 times at least. His plays turned things around," says Quigan. "I'm really thrilled to be working with him again."
