20 questions with Lucy Elliott
Lucy Elliott joins Shortland Street this week as Dayna, Jasmine's rebellious new friend.
Lucy's a second generation Shortland Street-er as her dad Peter Elliott played clinic director, David Kearney.
How long have you been acting and how did you get your first big break?
3 years-ish. Big break was Shortland Street. Did a few commercials before that.
Name three similarities between you and your onscreen character.
We like the clothes we wear. We both enjoy drawing. Our favourite colour is black.
What has been your best experience/scene on the show to date?
So far my favourite experience on the show has been meeting the cast and crew. As for a fave scene? Probably where I first meet Phoenix, Ula and Evan! I think that some scenes coming up will be my new favourites?!
Which other character would you like to be and why?
Im not sure to be honest haha.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of SS?
Drawing. Gaming. Swimming.
What do you do in your down time during the day when youre not shooting?
Play games on my computer/console. Learn lines. Draw. Swim. Talk to my friends online.
What is your favourite destination in NZ and overseas?
Whangamata, Coromandel. I spent my first proper new years with my best friend there.
How many brothers and sisters do you have, are they older or younger?
Older sister, 20. Younger brother, 12.
What is your date of birth and what star sign are you?
March 19 th, 1994. Pisces!
Do you have any pets?
2 cats. Pluto and Minki.
Who is the actor or actress that you look up to or admire the most?
Actor my Dad, definitely.
Actress Meryll Streep or Anne Hathaway.
What is the thing you enjoy most about going to work everyday?
Acting. Everyday is different. I really enjoy being someone else. Its kind of a relief.
What has been your favorite scene to film in your time at Shortland Street?
Meeting Ula, Phoenix and Evan. Or maybe my scene with the Cooper family. Wendy gives me a growling. I deserve it too!
Do you watch Shortland Street at home? If yes, is it strange seeing yourself on television or are you used to it?
Yes, when my Dad was on it. Then we started watching it again recently. I havent seen myself on TV yet, but I imagine Ill cringe haha.
What is your favourite food?
Too many to list! Tomatoes, chocolate, cucumber, fettuccine alfredo, pizza, sushi, the list goes on&oh and if you ever give me anything mintchoc, I will become your best friend, whether you like it or not.
What is your favourite television programme and/or film of all time?
TV Show: True Blood. Purely because I am in love with Alexander Skarsgard.
Movie: Django: Unchained. Sooo good. Leonardo was amazing. Then either The Lion King or Fight Club.
Are you from Auckland or did you move her to film Shortland Street? Where did you grow up?
From Auckland and grew up here.
Which other actors/actresses do you like working with the most and why?
Everyone Ive worked with so far has been supportive and lovely! Pearl has been a gem, as well as Geordie, Tyler, Eliza & Frankie. And Jacquie and Matt too! Theyre all so good at what they do and enjoy it and I can respect that.
Have you made any good friends amongst the cast and crew?
Pearl, Geordie, Eliza and Tyler are probably my friends ha. I play video games/watch movies/talk/goof around with them in the green room.
Can you remember your first day on Shortland Street what was it like?
Absolutely overwhelming and positively terrifying. Also extremely long.
