Jesse Mulligan has an extensive and diverse CV, having seen success as a comedian, broadcaster, journalist, public relations practitioner, food critic, radio announcer and MC. He even trained as a lawyer.
Born and raised in Hamilton, he entered a first-timers' stand-up comedy competition while studying at Waikato University. After he won the competition, he went on to perform regularly, and was hired by a local radio station to provide some humour for the breakfast show.
One thing led to another, and in 2013 he joined TVNZ as one of the hosts of Seven Sharp, alongside Ali Mau and Greg Boyed.
Prior to joining TVNZ, Jesse appeared on TV3's 7 Days and Would I Lie to You?. Alongside these shows, Jesse lists his career highlights as writing as a restaurant reviewer for Metro magazine, which he still does, and performing an hour-long comedy show entitled Middle Class at the 2010 Comedy Festival.
When he's not at work, Jesse loves cooking, dining out, traveling, playing Scrabble, and working on his food blog aucklandfoodblog.co.nz
Jesse currently lives in Auckland with his partner and daughter, and is the "manbassador" for the charity Bellyful, which provides meals for families with newborn children, as well as families in crisis.
