Irish fans in party mode, they're dancing in the stands as a glum group of Australian fans shuffle out.

Ireland's players clap their fans as they spend some time walking around the field. Anyone would thing they'd just won the World Cup, what a game!

A famous win for Ireland and a beaming Irish captain O'Driscoll pays tribute to the fantastic support his side has enjoyed tonight. He says it was defence which was critical in the final 10 minutes, and they know how important their remaining two pool games will be.

All over and what an upset! Humongous roar from god knows how many Irish inside Eden Park, as Bryce Lawrence blows the whistle. 

78min: Australia 6 Ireland 15
Oh it's all happening! Bowe latches on to a Cooper ball and goes streaking down and is stopped just inside the Aust 22 and into touch. The Aussie lineout goes astray and the Irish think they're in for a try but it's a penalty.

75min: Australia 6 Ireland 15
Outstanding Irish defence on their on line as Genia and Aust hammer away but they're held out. Five minutes to go for Irish glory.

73min: Australia 6 Ireland 15
Irish scrum has been excellent and has gotten better. Danger as Aust attack down the left and catch Ireland short in numbers but Faingaa throws the ball into the third row instead of finding his winger. 

69min: Australia 6 Ireland 15
Aussie scrum under enormous pressure, Ross and Healy getting the upper hand and Irish penalty right in front, which O'Gara easily smacks over.

66min: Australia 6 Ireland 12
And the Irish are 5m from the line as big Mike Ross is held up just short of the line.

63min: Australia 6 Ireland 12
Just as Aust head into the Irish 22, they're pinged and O'Gara clears.

61min: Australia 6 Ireland 12
Just under 20 minutes out and the crowd can smell the upset. 'Ireland! Ireland!' chant goes up as the Aussies feel the pressure at scrum time once more, and penalty. Ronan O'Gara is on and he's taking this one after Sexton hit the post last time. No mistake from out in front!  

55min: Australia 6 Ireland 9
Cooper shows his brilliance as he nearly sets up the first try, if not for a forward pass. He moves out to the right and throws the ball to Ashley-Cooper who is nearly there in the corner but the ball was forward anyway.

51min: Australia 6 Ireland 9
Aust scrum under more pressure and they're penalised for going straight down. Right out in front but Sexton has cracked it off the left upright!

47min: Australia 6 Ireland 9
The pressure is put on Aust and they're caught off-side at the breakdown. Huge roar as Sexton adds the first points of the half.

44min: Australia 6 Ireland 6
Sexton drills a low one into the Aussie 22, to keep the 'away side' on their haunches. Aussie lineout has been good tonight, unlike Ireland's with Best throwing in a couple of misdirected ones in the first 40.

42min: Australia 6 Ireland 6
Beale goes for a dart down the left hand touch, he's had a wicked game so far, a big threat.

HT: Australia 6 Ireland 6
An absolutely cracking first half, the crowd have had their full money's worth. No tries, and all even at six-all with O'Connor slotting two penalties and Sexton one penalty and a drop goal. But the forward battle and particularly the scrum was terrific, with the Irish really starting to put the Aussie forwards under the pump later in the half.

40min: Australia 6 Ireland 6
Aussie scrum falling to pieces, as Ireland turn it nearly 180, before the ball is out and knocked on by the Aussies. Ireland have a quick opportunity but the ball is lost forward. Half time.

36min: Australia 6 Ireland 6
Ireland push the Aussies' scrum back and are penalised, but from the ensuing lineout, Best throws in a wobbly one.

34min: Australia 6 Ireland 6
The boos ring out as the ref deems Aust have turned the ball over at the ruck. More numbers at the breakdown but the crowd can't believe it.

29min: Australia 6 Ireland 6
Cooper shells a high one and it's scrum time, which has been a fascinating battle so far. Aust are penalised on a technicality. Sexton can't add any more points from a difficult spot wide out to the left.

26min: Australia 6 Ireland 6
Ireland struggling to get their hands on the ball and Aust are keeping it tight in the forwards and Ireland pinged for fiddling with the ball on the ground. O'Connor misses much to the delight of the Irish supporters.

23min: Australia 6 Ireland 6
So fast in fact the Irish can't keep up and are caught offside. O'Connor bangs it over from a handy angle just out to the left.

20min: Australia 3 Ireland 6
The game's moving at a terrific pace. Aust back down Ireland's in 22 but the Irish clear away.

17min: Australia 3 Ireland 6
It's deafening as the crowd chant 'Ireland! Ireland!' O'Driscoll is managing his backs marvellously. Ireland move back inside the Aussie 22 where Sexton slots an excellent drop goal.  

15min: Australia 3 Ireland 3
Aussies are offside while Ireland are hot on attack and are penalised. Sexton doesn't miss a second time and it's all even.

13min: Australia 3 Ireland 0
Sexton has a chance to level but pushes the ball out to the right, he was quite a distance away around the 40m line.

10min: Australia 3 Ireland 0
Australia have camped down in the Irish 22, and are putting the hammer down on the scrum. Ireland's scrum looks a bit shaky and they're penalised. O'Connor doesn't miss from just off to the right.

7min: Australia 0 Ireland 0
Ireland's fullback Rob Kearney has hammered his opposite Kurtley Beale in a high tackle - the heat is on! O'Connor has pulled the penalty shot to the left.

2min: Australia 0 Ireland 0 
Electric atmosphere and we're under way and already some push and shove!

The crowd stands for the anthems, as a massive swell of Irish supporters belt out a raucous rendition of 'Amhrán na bhFiann.'

The two teams have gone through their warm-ups and we're eight minutes from kick-off. Ireland received a huge cheer from this packed house at Eden Park when they came out to have a kick-around.
