About Scott Cam
Gold Logie winner Scott Cam is a genuine authority on renovation and construction.
He also knows firsthand the powerful difference the generosity of a reality TV home renovation can make to people's lives.
Australia's best known chippie is excited for the home owners on Reno Rumble.
“It must be nerve-racking handing your home over to strangers to transform for you, but we have gathered the best of the best and our homeowners could not be in better hands. Our judges will make sure they stay on track with their briefs, and at the end of it all everyday Aussies will have their lives changed forever. It’s great stuff.”
After growing up in Bondi in Sydney, once he finished his carpentry apprenticeship Scott set off in his old 4WD to see Australia.
A five-year adventure took him all over the country and saw him living in a swag, building ships, doing a lot of fishing and mustering sheep and cattle to earn a dollar.
After meeting Ann, now his wife, on what was supposed to be a fleeting visit home, he settled in Sydney. They still live there and have three children – Charlie, 18, and twins Sarah and Bill, 16.
He established his own carpentry business in 1990 and renovated his way through Sydney until he was recruited in a pub for Backyard Blitz in 1999.
He has gone on to host the hugely popular TV shows Domestic Blitz, Random Acts of Kindness and Renovation Rescue, as well as The Block.
He did the pilot for Backyard Blitz 16 years ago for a bit of fun, never expecting it would lead to a full-time job in TV, let alone Logie nominations and taking home the big one in 2014.
Scotty has written two books (Out The Back and Scott Cam’s Home Maintenance for Knuckleheads), is a regular on radio, and has his own website – scottycam.com.au, a practical resource for any budding DIYerS delivered with classic, laconic Cam charm.
Scott believes the magic of The Block delivered him TV's highest personal prize in 2014, the Gold Logie.
“We produce family viewing, and I’m lucky enough to be in the middle of it.”
