Dunedin's new covered stadium has cleared its final hurdle.
The court of appeal on Monday morning rejected a legal bid from
the city's Stop The Stadium group to pull the plug on the $200
million project.
The court ruled the project's costs have not increased
significantly from those set out in the council's long-term
plan.
"I think I would have felt very sorry for Stop the Stadium if they had won this because they would have been crucified," says Malcolm Farry, the Stadium Trust chairman.
Initial site work is already well advanced with the stadium on target for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
