New Zealand Olympic 1500m runner Lucy Van Dalen has won the Mile race at the Cork City Sports meeting, recording 4m 31.78s in very windy conditions.
The time places her third on the New Zealand all-time list for the event and just 1.38 seconds off the New Zealand record held by Christine Pfitzinger. Given the difficult conditions the New Zealand Olympic team distance coach Steve Willis, said Van Dalen's effort was excellent.
Also at the Cork meeting Liz Lamb won the High Jump with 1.84 metres.
Jake Robertson (8m 04.57s) and Matt Lambert (8m 21.54s) finished 5th and 15th respectively in the 3000 metres, while Malcolm Hicks (7th) and Zane Robertson (10th) ran 4m 02.33s and 4.03.05 in the Mile race.
