The fastest time to eat a 12" pizza is 1 min 45.37 sec
and was set by Josh Anderson (New Zealand) in an event organised by
Scopa Ltd in Wellington, New Zealand, on 22 March 2008.
Largest Haka
The largest Haka was achieved by 3264 participants at an
event organised by Waikato Raupatu Lands Trustat at Hopuhopu sports
complex in Ngaaruawaahia, Waikato, New Zealand, on 16 February
2008.
Longest squash marathon, singles
The longest marathon playing squash is 25 hr 55 min and
was achieved by Brett Daniel Meyer and James Daniel Meyer (both New
Zealand), at Howick Squash Club, Auckland, New Zealand, on 19-20
April 2008.
Fastest text message blindfolded
The record for the fastest text message blindfolded is 45.09 sec,
achieved by Elliot Nicholls (New Zealand), at the Telecom shop on
Filluel Street, in Dunedin, New Zealand, on 17 November 2007.
Most generations to complete a half
marathon
The record for the most generations to complete a half marathon is
4 and was set by Syd Taylor and three generations below him (all
New Zealand) who ran the Fullers Kerikeri Half Marathon, New
Zealand on 19 November 2005.
Largest wasp nest
The largest wasp nest ever recorded was found on a farm at
Waimaukau, New Zealand, in April 1963. Despite being composed of
wood scrapings mashed up with saliva into a
papier-mâché like substance, it was so heavy that it
had fallen from the tree in which it had been hanging onto the
ground, where it had then split into two. When whole, it measured
3.7 m (12 ft 2 in) long, and was 1.75 m (5.25 ft) in diameter and
approximately 5.5 m (18 ft) in circumference. It had probably been
constructed by introduced German wasps (Vespula germanica).
Most latex feet made for a single film
More than 1,600 pairs of latex feet were used during the shooting
of the film The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
(NZ/USA 2001). Each foot had to be glued on and then ripped off at
the end of each days filming, so they could only be used
once.
Most sausages eaten in one minute
The record for the most sausages eaten in one minute is held by
Stefan Paladin (New Zealand) who ate eight whole sausages at the
Ericsson Stadium, Auckland, New Zealand on 22 July 2001.
Earliest country to pass women's suffrage
The 1893 Women's Suffrage Petition led to New Zealand
becoming the earliest self-governing nation in the developing world
to grant women the right to vote. Governor Glasgow signed the
Electoral Bill on 19 September 1893.
Mussel opening - fastest 100
The fastest time to open 100 mussels is 2 min 11 sec by
Kannha Keo (New Zealand) at the Havelock Mussel Festival, Havelock,
New Zealand on 17 March 2007.
