A beautiful tribute
Alisha Osborne's performance of the Sarah McLachlan hit Angel brought all three judges to tears on Sunday night.
Fifteen-year-old Alisha dedicated the song to her late father Milton Osborne, 54, a former mining contractor and Grey district councillor who was one of 29 men to die in the infamous Pike River mine explosion on Nov 19, 2010.
She explains, "I sung Arms of the Angel because, really, that's where they should be, that's where they are..."
"Dad's always supported me throughout my music and I know today he's going to be here and he's going to be [cheering me on]."
Her clear, pure voice and honest, emotional delivery earned her a standing ovation from the crowd and three yeses from the judges.
