Meet your judges: Cris Judd

New NZGT judge Cris Judd understands the drive and focus needed to succeed as a performer, and he has an eye for raw talent.

He also knows a thing or two about high wattage performances, having danced professionally for more than 20 years alongside some of the biggest names in show business.

Cris grew up in the Philippines and Hawaii, before moving to Florida to pursue a golf career.

But before too long he had changed direction and decided to become a professional dancer, and, while dancing on stage at Disney World, he was noticed by a member of Michael Jackson's crew and hired to tour with the King of Pop.

Cris went on to dance in a lead role alongside MJ for several years, travelling the world on the Dangerous and HiStory tours.

His career then progressed into choreography and music video direction. The multi-faceted artist has choreographed/directed videos and stage shows for superstars including Jennifer Lopez (his former wife), Usher, Ja Rule, Julio Iglesias, and Jordan Knight.

Cris has also produced stage shows in Vegas, including the Midnight Fantasy musical at Luxor Resort.

In 2009 he performed in a tribute to Jackson at the MTV Video Music Awards alongside Janet Jackson, and other star choreographers including Travis Payne and Brian Friedman.

Judd recently appeared on the big screen as a featured dancer in the musical Rock of Ages, starring Tom Cruise.

He has also performed on Dancing With the Stars, and choreographed for hit show America's Got Talent.

He has gained television judging experience from US reality shows Your Momma Don't Dance, and Dirty Dancing.

Teaching and mentoring younger dancers is another big part of Judd's life. He judges dance competitions around the USA and regularly teaches workshops.

Cris lives in L.A. with his wife Kelly; the couple are expecting their first child in September 2013.
