  • Two teens die in Southland crash

Police have named the two teenagers killed in a car crash in Southland on Tuesday night.

Tori Jean Wilson, 15, from Mataura, and Isaac John Anderson, 19, from Gore, were killed when their car collided with a station wagon on Wyndham Rd, between Wyndham and Mataura, about 5.20pm.

They were both passengers in the same car and died at the scene.

The occupants of both vehicles were trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed by emergency services.

The drivers were taken to Kew Hospital in Invercargill.

One driver is due to be released on Wednesday but the other remained in critical condition.

The crash is being investigated by the serious crash unit and the cause was not yet known.
