Liam Reid to appeal sentence

Convicted rapist and murderer Liam Reid will be appealing his sentence.

The 36-year-old was sentenced in December to preventive detention with a minimum non parole period of 26 years for the rape and murder of Emma Agnew and the attempted murder and rape of a Dunedin woman.

Reid's lawyer David Bunce has confirmed that Reid will be appealing the sentence.

He wasn't able to give any details of when the appeal would be lodged but says everything will come out in due course.
