Published: 11:03AM Wednesday October 24, 2012 Source: ONE News

A giant Lego helicopter has been built to promote the Westpac helicopter rescue service.

Using 45,000 Lego blocks, and weighing around 400kgs, the chopper was built by three people over a 50 day period.

Westpac said that the helicopter is the largest and most complex Lego structure built in New Zealand.

The structure also has an internal frame, so that two children can easily sit inside.

Complete with spinning rotor and working lights, the chopper is currently on display at Westpac's Queen Street branch in Auckland
