Firefighters have extinguished a blaze in a central Wellington building.
Fire services were called to the fire at a commercial building on Woodward Street at around 1.15pm.
No one was in the building at the time of the fire.
Smoke billowed on to the fifth, sixth and seventh floor of the building.
Fire services were checking for water damage on the third floor after the blaze was contained.
