Wellington police are investigating three drive-by shooting incidents where people have been shot at with a paintball gun.

On Sunday a cyclist and a pedestrian were shot at in Wadestown about 4.15pm, Acting Senior Sergeant Corey Watts of Wellington police says.

The vehicle used in the incident was a green sedan occupied by at least one Caucasian man in his 20's.

This followed at least two other paintball gun shootings in the central city from a silver sedan, last Thursday.

"There is potential for people to be seriously injured if shot with these projectiles," Watts says.

"We urge members of the public to record descriptions of people and vehicles involved to assist us in locating offenders and to contact the police immediately."
