A female cyclist killed in a collision with a car in Christchurch today has been named.
Joanne Marjorie Drummond, 54, from Christchurch, died at the scene of the crash in the suburb of Wainoni this morning.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Breezes and Wainoni Road shortly after 9am.
Police said initial enquiries indicate Drummond was struck by a car which was turning from Wainoni Road into Breezes Road.
"She was pronounced deceased by ambulance staff at the scene," they said earlier.
Police have spoken to the driver, and say they expect to formally interview them later this week. Several witnesses to the crash have also provided statements.
The intersection was closed for a short time this morning but cordons have now been removed.
The death comes just three days after cyclist Carl Taylor, 31, was killed after being hit by a car in Pages Rd, Aranui.
