A Christchurch photographer has won Best Wedding Album at the wedding and portrait photographers competition in Las Vegas.
The event is attended by tens of thousands of photographers from around the world and Johannes Van Kan's win is still sinking in.
Each page of the album replays the couple's big day in Barcelona, recalling each minute detail.
"I wanted it to have a powerful feel...I also wanted it to have a personal feel," says Van Kan.
And the photographer is delighted he has won international acclaim from the most discerning of critics - his peers.
"It's like the Oscars for photography," he says.
Van Kan views each wedding as a new challenge, even though he has captured hundreds of them through his lens.
But his expertise comes at a cost with his albums costing about $5000.
He says his win is a reassurance that he's "not getting stale".
