Willie Jackson (Broadcaster)

Willie Jackson is well known as a broadcaster on TV and Radio, he is also one of the main spokesmen for urban Maori.  He is the chief executive of the Manukau Urban Maori Authority, the chairman of the National Urban Maori Authority and the National Maori Radio Network - Te Whakaruruhau  O Nga Reo Irirangi Maori.

Willie also works as a broadcaster, political commentator and talkback host for Radio Waatea and Radio Live and in 2011 he and his co-host JT were named New Zealand's top talkback hosts.  He has been a political commentator for a range of TVNZ shows over the last decade and he featured on TVNZ's election night coverage.  He was also the host of the award winning Maori Current Affairs show Eye to Eye for six years on TVNZ.

His iwi affiliations are with Ngati Maniapoto, and Ngati Porou. Willie is well connected within political circles and can discuss politics from first-hand experience as a former MP. He was the leader of the Mana Motuhake Party - the first Maori party in Government, and deputy leader of the Alliance.

Prior to entering parliament Willie was a long time union official, sports broadcaster, Maori music label executive and Urban Maori Authority negotiator.
