McLeod sisters' scone recipe - 20 November


375g plain flour
6 tsp baking powder
Pinch salt
75g hard butter
1-1/2 cups milk

Method:
Sift dry ingredients into a bowl
Dice cold butter and add to bowl
rub butter into dry ingredients until it resembles fine breadcrumbs
make a well in the centre, add milk, a cup to start and more if needed
quickly mix into a dough with a metal spoon or knife
Turn onto a floured board and shape into a square 3cm thick
Cut into squares.
Place on a greased baking tray, brush with milk and bake at 220degC for approx 10mins.

This will make 12 large scones.
