Beef and Barley Soup

1 packet Maggi Beef Bourguignon Recipe Mix              
400g can chopped tomatoes
1 1/2 cup boiling water
300g beef, thinly sliced
1/3 cup pearl barley
1 red capsicum
2 sticks celery, chopped
2 carrots, sliced
1/4 tsp pepper

1. Set the slow cooker to low.
2. Combine Beef Bourguignon Recipe Mix with chopped tomatoes and boiling water.
3. Add to the slow cooker bowl with beef, barley and prepared vegetables.
4. Cook on low for 6-8 hours. 
5. Season with black pepper to taste.

Onion Soda Bread

3 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
2 tsp baking soda
1 packet French onion soup mix
375ml can Evaporated Milk
1/2 cup water
2 tbsp rolled oats

1. Preheat the oven to 180degC
2. Line a 22 x 11cm (small) loaf pan with baking paper.
3. Sift together flour, baking powder and baking soda.
4. Add French onion soup mix.
5. Stir in evaporated milk and water
6. Pour mixture into prepared pan. Sprinkle with oats
7. Bake for 30-40 minutes until risen and brown.

Coq Au Vin

Canola spray or sunflower oil
1 packet French onion soup mix
3/4 cup red wine
6-8 chicken pieces
2 slices shoulder bacon, chopped
1 onion, wedged
2 sticks celery, chopped
2 carrots, sliced
250g mushrooms, halved
2 cloves garlic, crushed
25g butter cubed, optional
1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

1. Lightly spray the bowl of the slow cooker with canola oil or brush with sunflower oil.
2. Set the slow cooker to low.
3. Combine the French onion soup mix with red wine. Add to the slow cooker bowl with remaining ingredients, except butter or cornflour paste, and parsley.
4. Cook on low for 8-10 hours.
5. Serve the chicken and vegetables.
6. Stir the butter or cornflour paste through the sauce in the slow cooker, until melted or well mixed in.
7. Ladle the sauce over the chicken and vegetables and sprinkle with parsley.

Serve with creamy mashed potatoes.
