Chocolate, pear and walnut cake

Serves 8 -10

220 g butter, softened 
3/4 c caster sugar
pinch salt
4 eggs
1 1/2 c self -raising flour
1/4 c sour cream
1 1/4 c chopped dark chocolate
2 pears, cored and diced
1 cup walnut halves or hazelnuts, and pistachios
zest of 2 oranges


Cream the butter and sugar. Add the eggs one at a time.  Fold in the remaining ingredients.

Pour into a 26cm ring tin and bake for 50-60 minutes at 180C.

Allow to cool in the tin for 10 minutes then transfer to a wire rack.
