Nutmeg Cake

Shopping:

2 cups brown sugar firmly packed
2 cup self raising flour
125 gm butter
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup milk
1 beaten egg
1 1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Method:

Preset oven to 180C. Grease and line a 20cm round baking tin with baking paper.

Combine sugar and flour in a bowl. Rub in butter until it is like fine bread crumbs.  Press half mix into tin.  Dissolve soda in milk.  Add egg and nutmeg and mix with remaining sugar and flour.  Spoon over base.  Top with walnuts

Bake 1 hour and allow to stand before turning out.
