Am I Obese or Overweight?


Are YOU obese or overweight?

By calculating your BMI (Body Mass Index) you can find out if you are overweight or obese.

BMI is a good indication of fatness but it isn't perfect. In New Zealand we have a wide range of cultures and therefore body types.

 Polynesians tend to have bigger builds than Pakeha so if a Polynesian and a Pakeha had the same BMI, the Polynesian may have less actual fat than the Pakeha. This is explained further on page 51 of the Food and Nutritional Guidelines .
