Former Australian Idol winner Stan Walker will get another taste of the red carpet tonight in South Auckland.
It's to mark the world premiere of his film debut, Mt Zion, which opens nationwide on Waitangi Day.
Invited guests and celebrities will mingle with the likes of Stan Walker, Temuera Morrison, David Wikaira-Paul, Darcey-Ray Flavell-Hudson and Troy Kingi, along with the director Tearepa Kahi. They are due to arrive at the invite only premiere in classic 1970s vehicles to walk the red carpet in style.
Mt Zion is a family-oriented story in which Walker's character Turei and his family are hard-working potato farm contractors in rural Pukekohe. A talented musician, Turei dreams of his band, Small Axe, being the support act for Bob Marley's 1979 tour. But it's a dream that challenges the traditions and values of his upbringing and will set him at odds with his family - particularly his father (Temuera Morrison), a true man of the land.
Mt Zion hits NZ cinemas from Wednesday.
