Style blog: Shoe envy

With December just around the corner, party season is just about to kick off!

No doubt your inbox has already been flooded with invites to various shindigs.

Naturally, the first thought is always the perennial "What am I going to wear" dilemma.  Before you even think about this, make sure that you have the perfect arsenal of great party shoes at the ready!

The four essential glam party shoes for your wardrobe this season are:

The Metallic shoe

These shoes are best when they are seriously high and strappy. Go for maximum toe-cleavage!

The beauty of a hot metallic shoe is that they instantly pump up the glam-factor by several notches. Go for silver, pewter, gold or bronze.

We recently dressed One News's Wendy Petrie in a pair of strappy silver shoes at the Afta's and it completed her dazzling red-carpet look perfectly.

We love Jimmy Choo's six inch high Greta lame-covered shoes from his Icons collection.

The Nude shoe

Having a fab nude shoe is a must-have for every woman's wardrobe. A chic, classic nude-toned shoe instantly lengthens the leg. The neutral colour tones down everything so that the overall look is seamless.

At this year's Afta awards, Breakfast host Petra Bagust wowed everyone in a bright orange, halter-necked Kate Sylvester dress toned back with a sexy pair of nude Jimmy Choo shoes.

We love Jimmy Choo's five inch Private patent leather sandals.

The Brightly Coloured shoe

Shoes are all about having fun and nothing says it more than a bright shoe!

If you are wearing black and you need to inject a bit of colour into your look, a colourful "look at me" shoe will magically solve your problem.

A high strappy platform sandal is your best bet and you will immediately experience green-eyed shoe envy from all your peers!

We love Yves Saint Laurent's five inch violet suede Tribute platform sandals.

The Quintessential Black shoe

Black shoes tend to work with just about any look you choose.

Of course the higher the better and anything with a bit of detail is good.

For summer, keep them open-toed so that they'd be perfect for a either a little party dress or a long, flowing maxi dress.

We love Camilla Skovgaard's black cut-out leather platform sandals. They're a bit fetish-looking and super edgy!
