Paul Walker's childhood friend tried to battle scorching flames to rescue the actor from the wreckage of a burning car.
The Fast and the Furious actor and his friend Roger Rodas were both killed when the Porsche they were travelling in smashed into a pole after a charity car show in Santa Clarita, California.
Jim Torp, who witnessed the incident, described how Newt Wilmer desperately tried to save Walker.
"Paul's best friend, Newt, had burns on his arms from trying to pull Paul out," he told the UK's Daily Mail.
And he allegedly hit a firefighter who was trying to restrain him for his own protection.
A photograph has emerged of a police officer holding him back from the blazing car.
A coroner's report revealed Rodas had died on impact from his injuries, but Walker was still alive when the car burst into flames.
Wilmer met Walker at high school, and the pair were "like brothers" according to friends.
