Vicki Wilkinson-Baker – director
After more than 30 years working as a radio and television reporter, Vicki Wilkinson-Baker currently teaches journalism students at the New Zealand Broadcasting School in Christchurch.
She grew up on a sheep, beef and cropping farm in the Waihopai Valley near Blenheim. One of four girls, she and her sisters were always helping with feeding out, lambing, tailing, rounding up sheep and drafting.
Some of her favourite times were feeding mis-mothered lambs. “We’d often have quite a few and on cold nights they’d be snuggled up in the hay eagerly awaiting every feed,” she says. “Many became family pets and were proudly shown off at the Renwick School pet day.”
Although Vicki currently lives in Christchurch she is still keenly interested in the changing rural landscape.
