Close call for rower as Oracle sails by

PUBLISHED: 10:39AM Wednesday June 12, 2013 Source: ONE Sport

One unsuspecting rower got a close-up view of America's Cup defenders Oracle Team USA today ... maybe just a little too close for comfort.

Taking a leisurely jaunt across San Francisco Bay, the seafarer suddenly found the Oracle AC72 bearing down on him with nowhere to hide.

Video of the incident suggests the giant catamaran passes directly over him, somehow leaving him unscathed.

But closer inspection shows the dinghy simply got caught between the boat and its chase boat, and was never in any real danger.

No heart attacks were reported on San Francisco Bay today.

Onenews.co.nz will carry live streaming of the Louis Vuitton Cup and America's Cup races, currently scheduled to begin on July 8 (NZT).
