One man has taken embellishing a CV to a new level after landing a job at a UK hospital by claiming he had previously worked at the hospital featured in the television drama ER.

The Sun is reporting that Greig Ferguson got a job as a nurse after telling bosses he had previously worked at County General Hospital in Chicago. His story was believed.

Ferguson did actually have a nursing degree that he received from the University of Portsmouth in 2002 but he dramatically embellished his resume to improve his job prospects.

While applying for a position as emergency practitioner he also claimed he had seen military action which was also a lie.

Ferguson's lies landed him a job from September 2007 until October 2008 when he was caught out.

His lies were brought to the surface when a consultant became suspicious. Ferguson then confessed and pleaded guilty to two charges of fraud.

He was fired and ordered to do 150 hours of community service.
