Tornado-like storm slams LA coast

A tornado-like storm that caused a car to flip, streets to flood, damaged homes and stranded motorists, has struck the southern coast of California, the LA Times reports .

Reports have come in that it may be a waterspout or a tornado that lifted several catamarans metres into the air at Sunset Beach.

A local news report showed footage of a sport-utility vehicle that flipped over in Sunset Beach by the storm.
