American media are reporting Tiger Woods' wife has packed her bags and moved out of their multi-million dollar Florida home, as his public approval ratings fall among his adoring fans.

A source close to Woods has said Tiger's wife is taking a break, but hopes she will not leave permanently.

Up to 10 women are now claiming to have had an affair with the superstar golfer, according to the New York Post.

A 26-year-old former cocktail waitress in Orlando is the latest to claim an involvement with Woods in the paper - saying they enjoyed a two-year affair before and during his marriage to Elin Nordegren.

The waitress comes hot on the heels of New Yorker Cori Rist, who reportedly took up with Woods after meeting him on the Manhattan club scene and who became his sixth named alleged mistress.

Another, as yet unidentified, cocktail waitress is being represented by lawyer Michael O'Quinn, who told The New York Post that the woman, who claims to have met Woods at Orlando's Roxy Nightclub, now "has a corporate job" and doesn't want to be identified.

"She had not come forward until this point out of respect for Mr Woods," said O'Quinn.

"This woman was 20 when Tiger approached her and she was a VIP cocktail server," he said.

"Her relationship was not a one-night stand. It was long-term, and it was witnessed by many people in this community She has detailed knowledge of his life, his habits."

O'Quinn also alleged that Tiger's marriage is a sham, saying Woods told the waitress, "It's only for publicity," according to TMZ.com .

Meanwhile a CNN poll has revealed that, as the number of his alleged mistresses increases, Woods' popularity is tumbling with just 60% of people now viewing Woods favourably, down from 84% in June 2001.

Woods' unfavourable rating rose to 25% from 9% in 2001.

The polling took place after a National Enquirer report last month that Woods had an affair, which was followed a day later by his car crash.
