Teenage adventurer Jessica Watson is expected to arrive in Sydney on Monday afternoon before attempting to become the youngest person to sail single-handed around the world.
The 16-year-old faced waves up to five metres high during her second trial voyage from Queensland's Gold Coast but conditions eased on Sunday and Monday as she sailed closer to Sydney.
She was initially expected to arrive in Sydney on Monday morning, but by 8am (AEDT) she was still some distance from the harbour, sailing off the city's northern beaches.
Her spokesman, Andrew Fraser, said on Monday that the delay was caused by light winds, and she was now due in some time between 3pm and 4pm (AEDT).
"She is about seven to eight hours away. It's pretty still out there ... the winds have just died right down, and she is going about five knots," he said.
"She's fine, everything is going really well, she is very buoyant ... there has been no drama at all, it's been a very good sea trial."
Jessica set off on her second trial run to Sydney on Thursday.
During the Sunshine Coast teenager's first trial voyage to Sydney last month, her yacht, Ella's Pink Lady, collided with a cargo ship.
A departure date for her round-the-world attempt has not yet been announced, but Fraser said she would probably set off from Sydney within two weeks.
He would not say where she will berth in Sydney but added he expected media helicopters would find and follow her as she approaches the harbour.
Jessica planned to rest before facing the media on Wednesday, he said.
