Samoa has declared a national day of mourning on Friday to remember the victims of last weeks devastating tsunami.

A memorial service will be held at 3pm at Apia's National Stadium.

It will be followed by a prayer service before relatives of victims make their way to tafaigata cemetery to bury 10 of the deceased at a special burial site.

ONE News reporter Melissa Stokes reports from Apia that workers have begun to dress the stadium in the traditional funeral colours of black and white.

She says up to 2,000 people are expected to attend the service, including relatives of tsunami victims who have already been buried

CEO of the Prime Minister's ministry and cabinet Vaosa Eta says the funeral was postponed for two days to allow for relatives to arrive from New Zealand.
