Tattooed model Dani Lugosi braved the rain and ogling eyes to
shed most of her modesty to urge people to wear ink, not
mink.
The naked 28-year-old endured the attention of construction
workers, men in suits, and other lunchtime shoppers in Sydney's
Pitt Street Mall for about an hour to protest against the inhumane
treatment of animals for fashion.
She covered her breasts with one forearm, and in the other held a
sign which read Ink Not Mink.
A skimpy skin-toned pair of knickers and several large tattoos
provided little other protection from the drizzle and onlookers'
stares.
Lugosi, a member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
(PETA), says she became concerned about animals being treated
inhumanly by the fashion industry after viewing footage of rabbits
being skinned alive.
It was her first naked protest action but a slightly hesitant look
on her face was replaced with a smile when a dishevelled
shoe-shiner wearing a Santa hat posed alongside her for
cameras.
Then a man selling The Big Issue magazine wanted to have his photo
taken with her.
But she drew the line when a young man tried to get a happy snap,
forcing him to walk off despondently.
